Luke Bryan Speaks Publicly About Infant Niece’s Death
on Feb 23, 2017
Just several days after the tragic passing of his baby niece, the country star opened up for the first time in public about losing her, and the incredible support system his family has been blessed with.
On Tuesday (February 21st) Luke Bryan‘s family suffered the terrible loss of their infant niece, Sadie Brett who was the daughter of his brother-in-law. The little one, who they called Brett, had been battling with an infection that was affecting her liver along with some heart issues. Her health battle had been ongoing for some time and at one point she underwent dialysis as part of her treatment.
This week is one of the biggest in country music as Nashville is hosting the annual Country Radio Seminar which features people from all over the country music industry and is attended by a massive number of artists. Bryan, being a regular attendee to the event, appeared during the Universal Music Group’s luncheon and used the opportunity to speak about his family’s terrible loss.
Taking the stage at the famed Ryman Auditorium, Bryan began by thanking his supporters, “Thank you so much for all your prayers coming out to me and my family the last couple of days.”
He then expressed exactly how much of an impact everyone’s prayers have had on him, and how the power of prayer has blessed his family in an amazing way.
“I’ll tell you what, when I’m checking my socials and see so many of you guys … that are kind of lifting my family up, I really appreciate it. It means the world to me.”
Nearly immediately after the news of baby Brett’s passing was published, prayers and words of kindness, compassion, and support flooded all of his social media channels and they have brought his family comfort during this very difficult time.
After speaking, Bryan began singing his new single “Fast” that he revealed meant much more to him this week.
We continue to keep Luke and his family in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
