Seconds Before Crash, NASCAR Champ Does The UNTHINKABLE!!
on Jul 26, 2016
Sparks were flying as the rim hit the pavement and his car flew toward the outside wall as he entered the first turn, burning rubber off the remaining three tires and churning up a massive cloud of smoke.
With his pedal to the metal, Erik Jones was nearing 200mph going into the turn during this last weekend’s NASCAR Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis.
Once the rear tire exploded, the car quickly swung sideways, heading straight for the outer wall appearing as if it were going to hit – and if it had, this would have been a wreck for the record books.
Luckily, Jones – a NASCAR Truck Series champion, held it steady in one of the craziest drifts you’ll ever see and avoided colliding with the wall!
The series race ended up being won by Kyle Busch who led for 149/170 laps and also featured Jeff Gordon coming out of retirement to step in for Dale Earnhardt Jr.
