During an interview with the Grand Ole Opry during the Remembering Patsy Tribute in Fall 2003, Patsy Cline’s daughter, Julie Fudge spoke fondly of her legendary mother. Patsy Cline died on March 6, 1963, at the age of 30 in a plane crash when Julie was only four.

Since Patsy passed away when Julie was very young, so she doesn’t remember much about her mother, but she did have several wonderful things to say about her.

I know she never took a thing for granted,” she said. “She kept a scrapbook full of clippings where she tracked every accomplishment, no matter how big or how small.”

She went on to talk about her father, Charlie Dick, who “has a wall full of mom’s awards,” Julie said.

There’s one honor that Patsy received that can’t be matched. Charlie Dick spoke about this achievement that meant so much to his late wife, saying, “What she might say is the best thing that ever happened to her is becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry.”

We think Julie said it best when she stated, “It’s odd that so many images of her are in black and white because she was such a colorful person.”

Though Julie only knew her mother for a short period of time, it’s obvious she made a big impact on her daughter’s life, as she did with some many of her listeners.
