If there is another singer who may know a thing or two about being a “Coal Miner’s Daughter” besides Loretta Lynn and her sister Crystal Gayle, it’s Patty Loveless.

Loveless, who a relative of Lynn and Gayle, grew up in Pikeville, Kentucky, where her father was, you guessed it, a coal miner. Loveless’ dad and Lynn’s mom were siblings, making all three country legends first cousins.

At the 2015 Austin City Limits Hall of Fame concert, Loveless paid tribute to her cousin with a moving cover of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

Her performance resonates so much more with us than any other we have seen because she actually lived the lyrics, just like Lynn. Loveless kept her version as close to the original as possible, and fans of Loveless and Lynn alike will love this version just as much. Watch her tribute performance below.
