Country Music Gets Its Girl Group
In 2011, country music got an extra dose of girl power when supergroup the Pistol Annies made their way on to the scene. With its membership including Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley, the group became an overnight sensation.

The Pistol Annies first made their debut at the ACM’s Girls’ Night Out: Superstar Women of Country special. A few months later, they released their debut album Hell on Heels, which claimed the top spot on the Billboard country albums chart.
Released in 2013, the group’s sophomore album Annie Up further established them as a dominating force in country music. That album reached the second spot on the country album chart and also produced the Top 50 single “Hush Hush.”
The group had been on hiatus for a while after that, but reunited from time to time to perform at each other’s concerts. After years of waiting, Lambert hinted during a Billboard interview that a new Pistol Annies album may be on the way in 2018.
That album was released later in the year, and was titled Interstate Gospel.

Throwing Things Back To The Beginning
While “Hell on Heels” didn’t chart like its followup “Hush Hush,” it is still one of the Pistol Annies’ most well-known songs. It’s the song they sang when they made their debut on Girls’ Night Out and also the one they performed on the ACA Awards in 2011.
Wearing matching black ensembles with red accents, the ladies made a fierce entrance as they took their places at the front of the stage.
The crowd started clapping along as soon as the Pistol Annies began singing, and never let up for the rest of the performance.
The Pistol Annies ignited the stage with the perfect pinch of sassiness, adding further to the attitude already attached to “Hell on Heels.” Their red-hot performance had many people in the audience singing along, and we’re sure you’ll do the same!
