Priscilla Presley Shares What She Thinks All Elvis Fans Have To Experience

Perhaps more than any other celebrity, Elvis Presley is one of the most impersonated musical artists. There are so many Elvis impersonators out there that TIME once made a list of the Top 10 people who perform as “The King.”

But for Elvis’ former wife, Priscilla Presley, there is one person who captures Elvis’ spirit better than anyone else.

That person is actor-singer Martin Fontaine, who is the star of The Elvis Presley Experience, which has experienced three successful seasons in Quebec City. Priscilla says the thing that sets Martin apart is that he doesn’t try to impersonate Elvis to the extent that other performers do. Because of that, Priscilla feels Martin portrays Elvis in a more truthful light than any other performer.

Martin is an actor. He’s not trying to be Elvis. He doesn’t try to look like Elvis,”  Priscilla told CBC news. He transforms himself on stage…It’s like being at the Hilton in Las Vegas watching Elvis. It was very surreal for me.

The Elvis Presley Experience will start a 12 show run in Montreal on March 16, and wrap things up on March 27 before moving on to countries such as Turkey, Israel, and South Korea.

Priscilla is excited for the show’s expansion, and even went to Montreal to promote it:

“I want to give other countries the experience to see what it’s like being in Elvis’s show. It’s important for me to keep his legacy going, to have a young generation find out what was Elvis all about, why he’s so beloved.”

According to the way Priscilla talks, The Elvis Presley Experience is a must-see for any die hard Elvis fan. Tune in to the video below to see segments from The Elvis Presley Experience, and find out why Priscilla enjoyed it so much.

No one can ever match up to The King, but based on what Priscilla says, it seems like Martin does a fine job at honoring him.
