Pure Confidence Pours Through Each Word Of Aaron Lewis’ ‘Country Boy’ Performance
on Aug 10, 2017
Country radio had no idea what was coming when Aaron Lewis released his debut solo single “Country Boy” in 2010. That one song set everything into motion for Lewis, allowing him to establish a solid fan base in the country genre almost overnight.
Released as the only single off of his album Town Line, “Country Boy” is one of the most successful songs of Lewis’ entire career. It peaked at the 50th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart and managed to cross over to two rock charts as well. All of the buzz surrounding the song allowed it to sneak into the Billboard Hot 100, where it reached the 87th spot.
Although Lewis has since had other songs that performed better on the charts, “Country Boy” is the best-selling single of his entire career. The song has sold well over a million units, earning it Platinum certification from the RIAA.
Whenever you watch Lewis perform “Country Boy” live, it becomes all the more apparent why country fans responded so well to the song. The more intimate the performance, the better, as it gives you the chance to completely focus on Lewis as he sings.
Once such performance took place when Lewis dropped by radio station 98.7 The Bull in 2016. In addition to playing a few tunes off of his new album, Sinner, Lewis turned back to some older hits such as “Country Boy.”
Opting for an unplugged approach, Lewis performed “Country Boy” with nothing but his acoustic guitar and a single dobro player to back him up. Lewis often arranges his performances in such a way when he’s singing in smaller settings such as radio stations. The approach works well, as it places the focus on his voice and nothing else.
Another good thing about the unplugged arrangement is that it covers nothing up. The passion in Lewis’ voice can be heard clear as day, making his performance that much more enjoyable to listen to and watch.
We’re sure you’ll enjoy the performance too once you check it out in the video below. “Country Boy” is one of those songs we could play over and over again!
