A Rare Look At Patsy Cline At Her Finest Just Days Before Her Untimely Death

Extremely rare footage of American sweetheart Patsy Cline singing “I Fall to Pieces” just weeks before her untimely death has resurfaced after decades in hiding. The special aired on “The Glenn Reeves Show” on February 23, 1963, less than two weeks before her plane crashed on March 5 after returning from a Military benefit concert.

The black and white video features Patsy singing directly to the camera giving the footage an overall very intimate feel. After the song comes to a close Patsy smiles ear-to-ear as the audience applauds her performance.

“I fall to pieces, each time I see you again,” sings Patsy. “I fall to pieces, how can I be just your friend?”

“I Fall to Pieces” is a country-pop ballad about a woman who can’t seem to get over her former love. Despite the woman’s constant attempts to move on from him, she can’t help but “fall to pieces” every times she sees him or even hears his name.

The song was released in 1961 off her studio album Patsy Cline Showcase and was Cline’s first No.1 hit on the country charts and her second to cross over to the pop music charts. “I Fall to Pieces” was ranked at No.238 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in 2004.
