Country music singer Ray Stevens revamped the timeless classic “Unchained Melody” in a way that pays homage to the roots of country music! Alongside his eclectic band filled with various instruments, the crooner sported a snazzy fedora and simple suit as he kicked off this impressive performance.

“Oh, my love, my darling/ I’ve hungered for your touch/ A long, lonely time/ Time goes by so slowly/ And time can do so much/ Are you still mine/ I need your love,” he sang amidst a series of scene changes. Stevens’ backup singers were quick to jump in with their harmonies and infectious energy, helping the country singer craft a unique performance that is simply mesmerizing.

“Unchained Melody” is most recognized from The Righteous Brothers’ original recording in 1955 – which garnered great success among listeners and fellow performers who eager to record their own version of this instant classic. The tune was originally composed for the soundtrack to a prison film titled Unchained, and filmmakers had recruited Todd Duncan to record the vocals.

Although love for the original melody will never be lost, country music fans were completely thrilled to see Stevens’ own take on the iconic hit.
