Country music singer Ray Stevens revamped the classic hit "Unchained Melody" to adhere to the sweet sound of country music! Taking to a still background with his makeshift band, the crooner sported a fedora and simple suit as he began to grace our ears with the countrified remake.
"Oh, my love, my darling/ I've hungered for your touch/ A long, lonely time/ Time goes by so slowly/ And time can do so much/ Are you still mine/ I need your love," he sang amidst a series of scene changes. Stevens' backup singers were quick with their harmonies and infectious energy, helping the country singer deliver a unique performance that had fans mesmerized.
"Unchained Melody" is most recognized for its coverage by The Righteous Brothers in 1955, earning immediate success with doting listeners and performers eager to record the timeless hit. The tune was originally composed for a prison film titled Unchained, initially recruiting Todd Duncan to perform the vocals for the film's track.
Although the love for the original melody will continue, fans were thrilled to see Stevens renovating the iconic hit. You can watch the video below to enjoy his creative talent.
