Reba McEntire Delivers Chills With Breathtaking ACMs Performance Of ‘Back To God’

For years Reba McEntire had thought about recording a gospel album, but never did. After her divorce from Narvel Blackstock, McEntire found comfort in the old gospel songs she grew up singing as a child. And that’s how her new album Sing it Now: Songs of Faith and Hope came to be.

The double album features one disc that contains some of McEntire’s favorite gospel songs from her childhood. As for the other disc, it contains entirely new material, including her emotional song “Back to God.”

Written by Dallas Davidson and Randy Houser, “Back to God” is an emotional masterpiece. In the song, McEntire sings of how people need to turn toward God in times of trouble. The song’s music video played off of that message, and it was a success. As of press time, the video has nearly six million views.

Since country fans have responded so well to McEntire’s first venture into gospel music, she decided to perform “Back to God” during the ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 2). But she wasn’t alone. McEntire was joined by popular Contemporary Christian artist Lauren Daigle for the performance, and they delivered a stunning duet.

The way these two talented artists’ voices sounded together surely gave everyone chills. But beyond that, they each poured an overwhelming amount of passion into their performance, making it all the more powerful.

It’s one thing to just sing a song, but it’s another thing to feel it. You can tell that McEntire and Daigle felt the importance behind each and every word they sang at the ACMs. As a result, the entire audience felt it too.

Just in case you missed this stunning performance, you can watch it in the video below. After this, we hope McEntire and Daigle will consider collaborating again in the future!
