Birds of a feather flock together! With that in mind, it’s no wonder that these beautiful and talented women teamed up for a performance of a beloved hymn.
Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, and Trisha Yearwood are no strangers to one another, as Clarkson is married to McEntire’s former step son and the three women have performed together in the past. Needless to say, these women have continued their friendships off the stage.
Releasing her version of the gospel song “Softly and Tenderly” in 2017 off her album Sing It Now, Songs of Faith & Hope, McEntire is accompanied by both Yearwood and Clarkson for an unbelievable blend of voices. The song, urging sinners to find forgiveness and glory in God, compliments the women’s voices with its unique compilation of harmonies and tones.
With no surprise, McEntire’s album debuted on Billboard‘s country album chart at the number one spot, selling 52,000 copies during its first week of release. “Softly and Tenderly” was composed in 1880 by Will L. Thompson and has been covered numerous times since then.
