Is there anything better than a love song?

Keith Whitley only released two albums before his tragic death, but he left a mark on country music like no one else has before. With songs like “Don’t Close Your Eyes”, “I’m No Stranger to the Rain”, “Miami, My Amy”, “Ten Feet Away” and “When You Say Nothing At All”, Whitley quickly earned the legendary status.

Rising country star Dylan Scott was playing a show at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, Ohio when he wanted to take the crowd back to 1988 with one of that year’s most popular songs.

While introducing Keith Whitley’s iconic song “When You Say Nothing At All”, Scott told the crowd, “Keith Whitley was like Elvis to me, okay. I would sit on my bed and just sing Keith Whitley songs all night long, dreaming of being on the Grand Ole Opry one day and singing a Keith Whitley song. I got to fulfill that dream earlier this year…If you don’t know who Keith Whitley is, I guarantee that you know this song right here.

Without even saying the title of the song, he played the opening guitar riff and garnered some cheers from the crowd, pleased with his song choice. The fans at the Dusty Armadillo proved they are true country music fans as they sang along to every word of the song. He had quite the crew of backup vocalists!

Scott’s twangy voice puts a modern spin on Whitley’s famous tune. Scott looked incredibly happy to be singing his favorite song with so many of his fans.
