Sister Duo Lennon & Maisy Enchant The Opry With Delightful Johnny Cash Cover

In 2013, the world was just getting to know sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella, who got their big break when they starred on the popular television series Nashville. At a young age, both girls had already demonstrated they had the ability to make it in country music, something they proved with a now-iconic performance at the Grand Ole Opry.
Although Stella is now 17 and Maisy is 12, the two of them were much younger when they took to the stage at the Opry with the hopes of making an impression on the crowd. With Stella standing and Maisy sitting on a stool by her side, both girls held guitars as they spoke about how honored they were to be at the Opry.
After that, the two sisters moved on to a cover of a song you may recognize…Johnny Cash‘s “Ring of Fire.” If you’re familiar with Johnny’s version of the song, as we sure you are, then Lennon & Maisy’s version will sound quite different to you. In fact, their version of “Ring of Fire” is more true to the original recording, which was done by Anita Carter, who was June Carter Cash‘s sister.
By slowing down the arrangement of the song, Lennon & Maisy were able to showcase their beautiful harmonies. At such a young age, the two of them are already able to bounce their voices off of one another and harmonize in a way that takes others years to master.
With sweet smiles on their faces the entire time, Lennon & Maisy delighted the Opry with their cover of Johnny’s classic song. Since “Ring of Fire” is so iconic, it’s saying a lot that the Opry reacted to Lennon & Maisy’s version with such enthusiasm.
Of course, when you watch their performance in the video below it will be easy for you to see why. Even if you’ve seen it before it’s worth watching again and again…it’s that good!
We’re looking forward to everything the future has in store for these two talented sisters.
