It takes a lot of time and patience to learn how to play an instrument. As a result, many musicians opt to focus all of their time and energy on one instrument, rather than learn another.
But some people simply have a knack for music, and can pick up multiple instruments with no problem. One such person is a talented YouTube user that operates under the name heinz v.12. Since 2013, heinz has been uploading some impressive videos that showcase his skill as a guitarist and harmonica player.
One of heinz’s newest covers is his rendition of a timeless Lynyrd Skynyrd song. That song is “Simple Man,” which was released off of Skynyrd’s second studio album, Second Helping.
Since “Simple Man” is so well-known, it’s been the subject of many fan covers in the past. Guitar covers of the song are available in abundance, so heinz decided to take his version up a notch.
Rather than playing only the guitar or only the harmonica, heinz used both instruments to perform his “Simple Man” cover. It isn’t unheard of for someone to play the harmonica and guitar at the same time, but it certainly isn’t a common thing either.
Heinz backs himself up by playing the song’s signature guitar parts. He then uses the harmonica to play the song’s melody, or rather, the part that we’re used to hearing Ronnie or Johnny Van Zant sing.
Overall, this is a cover that every Skynyrd fan should check out! You can do just that by tuning in to the video below.
