Self-proclaimed redneck, Ryan Upchurch, delivered a unique rendition of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene” you just have to hear to believe! While the classic hit tells the story of a woman trying to steal someone’s man, Ryan and his buddy Justin decided to switch up the tune a bit. The duo decided to make their own “male version” of the song and people are loving it.

With tremendous success, both of Upchurch’s first released albums Cheatham County and Heart of America made the top 30 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

In-between writing his own songs though, Upchurch loves to cover classic country artists like Parton and John Denver.

His Version

In his version of “Jolene,” the redneck singer shares the man battling temptation towards adultery, begging the temptress, “Please don’t steal my heart just because you can.” While the lyrics may be different, Upchurch maintains the beat and spirit of Parton’s original.

“But I could easily understand how you could easily take my hand, but you don’t know what it means to me, Jolene.”
