Following Don Williams’ Death, Brothers Osborne Honor Him With ‘Tulsa Time’

The man known as the “Gentle Giant,” Don Williams, tragically passed away Friday (Sept. 8) at the age of 78. At one of their recent shows, country music duo Brothers Osborne payed an emotional tribute to the legendary singer with a performance of his iconic “Tulsa Time.”

“Livin’ on Tulsa time/ Livin’ on Tulsa time/ Well, you know I’ve been through it,” sang lead singer T.J. Osborne. “When I set my watch back to it/ Livin’ on Tulsa time.”

Williams was born May 27th, 1939 in Floydada, Texas and was warmly regarded for his statuesque height, nicknamed the “Gentle Giant.” After a successful career in which he recorded dozens of hit country songs including “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good” and “It Must Be Love,” Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. 

Maryland-natives John and T.J. Osborne make up the country music duo, T.J. taking lead on vocals with brother John playing lead guitar in addition to providing backup vocals.

“Tulsa Time” was written by Danny Flowers and recorded by Williams in 1978 for his album Expressions. The song was a No.1 hit for Williams, additionally earning the country singer an ACM Award for “Song of the Year.”
