Country singer Dierks Bentley experienced a swelling of emotions during one of his shows, prompting the singer to shed tears before his audience. Performing in Charlotte, North Carolina, the country star spoke directly to his crowd as he explained, according to The Charlotte Observer,

It always blows my mind, man. You think you’re grateful, and you think you’re strong – you think you’re a riser – and you go meet those families, you meet these kids, and you see what they’re going through, and it makes you about this big.” Photos of children occupying the Levine Children’s Hospital flooded the venue’s screen, tugging at the heart strings of fans and ultimately forcing Bentley to be overcome with emotion. The singer praised the hospital staff for their dependability, admitting that these families depend on these life-changing staff members to come prepared and ready to save lives.

As he sang an acoustic version of his 2014 hit “Riser”, the country star found himself breaking into tears as he jokingly informed his crowd, That’s why you have beer.” As his tears fell into the swig of his beer, the star regained his composer as he spoke,

I didn’t think I was gonna make it through that one… and that’s the thing about country music – you got the party songs, and you got the good times, but everybody here is going through something. … That’s what country music does to you: It kind of helps you know you’re not alone on that journey.”
