Rolling Stones Bring Out Lainey Wilson For “Surprise” Duet
on Jul 02, 2024
In November 2023, legendary rock band The Rolling Stones announced they would travel all over the United States on their Hackney Diamonds Tour to support their new album of the same name. In April 2024, just a few weeks before the first night of the tour, the band announced all the opening acts for 18 of their shows, and no two were the same.
They chose acts from all different genres, including country music. The Country acts they invited to open for them included Tyler Childers for their June 3rd show in Orlando, Lainey Wilson for their June 30 show in Chicago, and The War and Treaty for their July 10th show in Los Angeles.
Lainey Wilson performed at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Lainey Wilson is pulling double duty this summer. She is headlining her own Country’s Cool Again Tour, performing at amphitheaters and arenas all over the country, and also opening for a few acts including Morgan Wallen in Kansas City and for The Rolling Stone in Chicago.
Wilson kicked off the Chicago show with her latest single “Hang Tight Honey” and performed 8 more of her hit songs including “Heart Like a Truck,” “Watermelon Moonshine,” and “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”
After she warmed the crowd up, The Rolling Stones came on stage, opening with their iconic hit “Start Me Up.” They performed four more songs before introducing their first surprise of the night. Lead singer Mick Jagger thanked Wilson for her awesome opening set and then invited her out to perform with them!
Even though we’re sure this moment was planned, Wilson still looked stunned to be in the presence of such legends!
“What are we gonna do?” Jagger asked Wilson.
“Wanna do some ‘Dead Flowers?'” she replied.
The crowd went absolutely nuts for her song suggestion. As Jagger got his guitar strapped for the song, he was also brought a black cowboy hat to match Wilson’s vibe!
