Country music legend Tammy Wynette had viewers craving redemption when her heavenly performance of “How Great Thou Art” beautifully combined our two favorite things: the good Lord and country music.

Wynette took to the television series Hee Haw to showcase her angelic gift for a live audience, deeming her 1970 performance one that is sure to live on in country music history. Wearing a light green, beaded dress, the blonde beauty smoothly transitioned her audience into a calming and ever so soothing journey with the lyrics, “Oh Lord my God/ When I in awesome wonder/ Consider all the world/ Thy hands have made/ I see the stars/ I hear the rolling thunder/ Thy power throughout/ The universe displayed.”

The country icon kept a steady pace throughout her performance, although treating fans to a burst of power as she passionately sang, Then sings my soul/ My Savior, God, to Thee/ How great thou art/ How great thou art/ Then sings my soul/ My Savior, God, to Thee/ How great Thou art/ How great Thou art.”

This Christian hymn has rightfully earned its place in the hearts of music fans across the board, instilling a sense of faith and peace despite the variety of daring artists that attempt the powerful lyrics.
