Born from two of the finest vocalists to ever come from the genre of country music, Georgette Jones‘ voice is a melodic blend of her legendary parents, Tammy Wynette and George Jones. While her parents may both be gone, the world can find solace through the magic that occurs when their talented daughter sings.
Honoring her late mother, Georgette performed Tammy’s heartbreaking “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” which conveys the ache felt by families going through the painful transition of ending a marriage. With her parents divorcing when she was only four years old, no one knows the words sung by her mother better than Georgette.
“It seems like yesterday or like forever ago depending on the moment,” Georgette wrote on her Facebook page in remembrance of her mother. “I love and miss her very much and will do my best to remember and honor her today and every day in a positive way.”
“D-I-V-O-R-C-E” was released by Wynette back in 1968, earning her a number one hit on Billboard’s Hot Country singles. Known for tailoring her songs for female listeners, Wynette perfectly described the trials and tribulations women going through a divorce face when trying to shield their children from the pain of their new reality.
