Out of the countless George Strait covers there are, one done by a certain talented teen is a definite standout. This teenage cowboy with an unexpected voice stuns with a spot-on cover of Strait’s “Big Balls In Cow Town.”
Armed with an acoustic guitar, the 15-year-old singer by the name of Mattheas Mercado delivers his rendition of the tune in a manner highly reminiscent of The King of Country’s original. His deep vocals possess a similar pure country nature associated with Strait’s sultry voice.
“C’mon along and we’ll go down/ To a place in Texas called Cow Town,” sings Mercado. “You’ll never meet a stranger there/ Ev’rybody knows if you’re in town.”
“Big Balls In Cow Town” was written by songwriter Hoyle Nix and is featured Strait’s box set, Strait Out of the Box: Part 2. The box set album went on to become the best-selling country music box set in history, selling over 2 million copies since its release.
