It seems the Internet is not a friendly space for country music legend Willie Nelson. He has been the subject of death hoaxes so many times that he wrote a song to respond to everyone thinking he passed on.
Appropriately titled “Still Not Dead”, Nelson sings, “I woke up still not dead again today/The Internet had said I passed away/But if I die and I wasn’t dead to stay/And I woke up still not dead again today.“
He released the song, and a comical music video to accompany it, back in April 2017, but even with his declaration, the hoaxes still manage to make their way online.
WLS-AM 890 tweeted the following on Thursday morning, prompting Twitter to completely freak out.
Multiple people in the Country music industry have told @JohnHowellWLS & @RamblinRay890 that Willie Nelson has passed. Still confirming atm

Luckily, KXAN News easily debunked this rumor very quickly by speaking with Nelson’s management, who confirmed that he was still very much alive.

Stephanie Ruhle, an MSNBC news anchor, tweeted that she confirmed with Nelson’s lawyer that he is “alive, well and as always…AWESOME.“
SiriusXM Willie’s Roadhouse also shared an update, saying, “We’re happy to report that despite rumors to the contrary Willie Nelson woke up “Still Not Dead” again today!“
