Toby Keith Embraces Cowboy Spirit

A song about cowboys started it all for Toby Keith in 1993.

That song was none other than “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” with Keith celebrating the 25th anniversary of its release in 2018.

Years after “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” debuted, Keith revisited the cowboy theme in another song. Titled “A Few More Cowboys,” the track was released in 2016.

At first, fans thought that the release of “A Few More Cowboys” meant that a new album would be coming from the seasoned singer. But that wasn’t what happened, and instead the single served as a stand-alone track.

What Came After “A Few More Cowboys”

Keith eventually did release a new album the following year, titled The Bus Songs. That album sported the single “Wacky Tobaccy,” with Willie Nelson appearing in its hilarious music video.

But before Keith was lighting up the Hot Country Songs chart with “Wacky Tobaccy,” he was galloping into the Top 50 of the Country Airplay chart with “A Few More Cowboys.”

The song is the perfect mix of country pride and patriotism, true to Keith’s signature style. In the song, Keith sings about how the world would be a better place if we simply had “a few more cowboys.” If that were the case, Keith sings there would “Be a lot less outlaws. With a few more amens, be a lot less bad calls.

Lyric Video Captures Vibe Of Wild West

Keith also released a lyric video for the single, which sends him galloping into the Wild West, among other places. Unfortunately, the video has since been removed from his channel.

The images that flashed across the screen not only depicted traditionally-dressed cowboys, horses, and Western scenes, but also police officers, firefighters, and first responders…the modern day “cowboys.”

Although the lyric video was removed, Keith has performed the song live. Go ahead and watch him sing it below.

Even without the lyric video to accompany it, this song still gives you pure Wild West vibes!
