What does Trace Adkins have to say about his fight with Mark Wahlberg??  Ok, it wasn’t a real fight… but the two did exchange a few shoves during an on-set fight for an upcoming movie.

In a 2016 interview with CMT, Adkins revealed a little about his role alongside Wahlberg in Deepwater Horizon. The movie is based on the 2010 explosion of Deepwater Horizon, an offshore drilling and the oil rig that created the biggest oil spill in our country’s history.

In the movie, Adkins and Wahlberg’s characters get into a little scuffle, and viewers couldn’t wait to hear more about it!

When asked about their on-screen fight, Adkins said,

“At first it was hard for me to do it because, you know, he was injured. He had just gotten off the rig. His leg was banged up. His shoulder was messed up, so he was already banged up. I was trying to get some information out of him and I didn’t really want to get that rough with him.”

But it didn’t take long to rile up the 6-foot-6 country icon. Director, Peter Burg, had to push Adkins around a little and really fire him up. As soon as he was in the right mood… “Action!

Adkins recalled the scene, saying,

Peter Burg, after a couple of takes, came in and said ‘You know, I really want you to get down on this guy.’ And I said, ‘Hey, he’s already hurt. I wouldn’t do that.’ Then, he started hitting me in the chest and pushing me back and cussing at me.

He made me mad, you know. As soon as he got me as mad as he wanted me to be, I guess, he said ‘action’ and we did the scene and he got what he wanted. So, he knew what he was doing.
