Although he is known for hit songs “Paint Me A Birmingham” and “Time Marches On,” Tracy Lawrence decided to pay tribute to another country great at one of his shows in 2017.

Performing in front of an adoring crowd, Lawrence began the opening lyrics to George Strait’s hit song “Troubadour” and the crowd went wild. His traditional country sound fits perfectly, and his fans knew it! Clapping along and singing during the chorus, the audience was entranced by his performance.

George Strait included “Troubadour” on his 2008 album of the same name. Although the song didn’t reach number one on the charts, it’s still a fan favorite and known as one of his best songs.

Lawrence hasn’t released a new album since his 2013 album Headlights, Taillights and Radios, but after hearing him perform this George Strait song, he hasn’t lost an ounce of his talent. We’re sure we’re not alone when we say we want to hear some new music from him!

While no version will compare to Strait’s original, we think this is one of the best covers we’ve heard in a long time! Enjoy his awesome “Troubadour” performance below.
