Trisha Yearwood Thrills Nashville Crowd With Flawless National Anthem Performance
on May 22, 2017
Fans went wild when Garth Brooks revealed he was going to announce the person who would be singing the National Anthem before Monday night’s (May 22) Nashville Predators game.
The Preds have made it a habit to invite superstar country singers to sing the National Anthem before a Stanley Cup playoff game. Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Kelly Clarkson, Vince Gill, Keith Urban, and Carrie Underwood have all done the honors, and now, it was Trisha Yearwood’s turn.
Since Brooks was making the huge announcement, fans assumed it would be Yearwood, his wife of 11 years, and the Internet reacted the way we knew it would.
“Trisha Yearwood? Hell yeah,” one fan wrote.
“Love that Trisha Yearwood is tonite’s anthem singer! Another great job, #Smashville!” said another.
Yearwood performed a simple, yet incredible rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” that had the entire arena feeling extra patriotic before their favorite hockey team took the ice.
Following the final note, Yearwood took part in the traditional towel twirl with legendary Tennessee Titans Running Back Eddie George and injured Preds players Ryan Johansen and Kevin Fiala.
She did so well, that people on Twitter started making requests.
