Johnny Van Zant Interrupts ‘Travelin’ Man’ Performance With Surprise Video Of Ronnie

peripal2 YouTube Channel

Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s Ronnie Van Zant left some pretty big shoes to fill after he was killed in a plane crash in 1977. Ten years later, his younger brother Johnny stepped into those shoes, and he’s been leading Skynyrd ever since.

Thanks to the magic of technology, Johnny and Ronnie were able to release a duet together…twenty years after Ronnie’s death. The duet was called “Travelin’ Man,” and it is one of the most extradorindary songs in Skynyrd’s entire collection.

By using one of Ronnie’s old vocal tracks, Skynyrd was able to blend his voice with Johnny’s to make a duet. Ronnie also made an appearance in the official music video for the song, which showed old footage of him singing “Travelin’ Man” during a concert.

It’s that same footage that Johnny surprised fans with during a concert on Skynyrd’s Vicious Cycle Tour in 2003. The crowd was loving Skynyrd’s entire performance that night, but many of them had no idea about the surprise that was in store.

Even though Skynyrd recorded “Travelin’ Man” as a duet, they don’t always incorporate Ronnie’s vocals into it. But they did that night on the Vicious Cycle Tour…and they had a video of him as well.

Part of the way through their performance, Johnny turned around and motioned to a giant screen behind him. Suddenly, a video of Ronnie singing “Travelin’ Man” started playing. Words can’t even describe how wild the crowd’s reaction was!

This entire performance was one insane roller coaster ride, and we’re sure you’ll love it. Tune in below to check it out!
