Like Father, Like Daughter
Musical talent runs in the Gill family, as Vince Gill‘s daughter, Jenny, has shown. It’s clear that Jenny inherited her father’s love of country music, and she has the perfect voice for it.
In case you’ve never seen Jenny before, here she is.

Jenny and her father have performed together many times before, but their greatest collaboration hands down, was on Vince’s iconic song, “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”
Vince originally wrote the song as a tribute to Keith Whitely after his untimely death, then completed it after his brother, Bob, passed away a few years later.
To sum it up, there’s a good reason why people often refer to this song as one of the saddest in all of country music history. It still gets the tears flowing even after all these years.
A Performance Worth Remembering
Gill earned a Song of the Year Award at the CMA Awards for the song, and also took home two Grammy Awards because of it.
But Gill wasn’t the only vocalist who helped the song achieve such success. Both Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless performed background vocals on the track, forming stunning harmonies to Vince’s lead.
The trio often comes together to sing the song at memorials and other occasions, always bringing on goosebumps when they do.

During a performance at the Nashville Bluegrass Series in 2008, Vince reunited with Ricky to sing “Go Rest High.” But Patty was unable to attend, so Vince welcomed Jenny up on stage to sing along with him and Ricky.
The resulting performance that occurred was amazing, as the trio sang beautifully with one another. This song somehow always manages to make us tear up, and watching this performance was no exception.
There is so much talent on the stage in this performance, that we just had to share it with you. You can watch it in the video below.
