Jenny and her father have performed together many times before, but their greatest collaboration hands down, was on Vince’s iconic song, “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Vince originally wrote the song as a tribute to Keith Whitely after his untimely death, then completed it after his brother, Bob Gill, passed away a few years later.
Gill earned a Song of the Year Award at the CMAs for the song, and also took home two Grammy Awards for it. But he wasn’t the only vocalist who helped the song achieve such success. Both Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless performed background vocals on the track, forming stunning harmonies to Vince’s lead.
During a performance at the Nashville Bluegrass Series in 2008, Vince reunited with Ricky to sing “Go Rest High.” But Patty was unable to attend, so Vince welcomed Jenny up on stage to sing along with him and Ricky.
The resulting performance that occurred was amazing, as the trio sang beautifully with one another. This song somehow always manages to make us tear up, and watching this performance was no exception.
There is so much talent on the stage in this performance, that we just had to share it with you. You can watch it in the video below.
