The country music legend confessed that his first time performing at the ‘Mother Church’ of country music would NOT include one of his songs as the opening to his set.

Garth Brooks is scheduled to perform for the very first time at the hallowed Ryman Auditorium in just a short time, but in a recent Facebook video he confessed that his opening song would definitely NOT be one of his own hits…but why?

Well, the answer may surprise you!

“I haven’t picked it yet,” Brooks begins. “I have a feeling it isn’t going to be something that isn’t Garth Brooks, for sure.”

At this point, he begins to tear up and you can clearly see the emotion grip him while talking about his deep connection to country music.

“There’s a reason why you haven’t been here,” he continues, choking back tears. “Is that you don’t think that maybe your stuff…is enough.”

The teary-eyed superstar admits that he’s going to be singing a cover to honor those great legends that pioneered country music and helped him realize his dream, shaping his taste in music.
