Willie Robertson Reveals Making Duck Calls Wasn’t His First Career Choice

The Robertson family had a steady family business called Duck Commander, where they made duck calls and produced hunting videos. Their redneck lifestyle and strong faith made them a national phenomenon thanks to their hit reality TV show Duck Dynasty.
Over the weekend, Willie Robertson, the CEO of Duck Commander, his wife Korie, his parents Phil and Miss Kay, and his Uncle Si traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia to speak at Liberty University, where his son John Luke and daughter-in-law Mary Kate are sophomores.
The family spoke about their unexpected rise to fame, their faith, and Willie told a story about patience.
He revealed that being the CEO of Duck Commander, or even making duck calls, wasn’t his top career choice.
“When I went to college, I was a P.E. major,” Willie told the audience. “I thought I was going to be a pastor perhaps, and I had no idea the road that we would take.”
While he was either going to be a pastor or a P.E. teacher, Willie’s life took an unexpected turn when he became CEO of Duck Commander and made huge business moves that put his company and his family on the map.
Now, he wouldn’t change a thing. He travels the world giving back and telling his rags to riches story that wouldn’t have happened without the support of his family, or his faith in God.
