From the moment Brian Justin Crum first stepped on the stage at America’s Got Talent, he had the entire nation captivated by his powerful voice. The 28-year-old San Diego native revealed that his greatest dream is to become a singer, and based on his audition, he’s set to achieve that dream.
For his audition, Crum performed his own rendition of Queen’s iconic hit from the 70s, “Somebody to Love.” The performance generated great praise from the judges, with Simon Cowell calling him a “fantastic singer.“
All four judges voted to send Crum through to the next round, during which he decided to perform yet another rock hit. Called “Creep” by English alternative rock band Radiohead, the song has become a global sensation over the course of the past couple of decades.
Standing center stage, Crum’s voice barely reached above a whisper as he delivered haunting note after note. The entire crowd was silenced by his stunning vocals, and as the camera moved to show different audience members, many of them could be seen staring at Crum in awe.
The judges were equally mezmerized by Crum’s performance, including Howie Mandel and Hedi Klum, whose jaws dropped after they heard Crum hit a particularly powerful note.
Although Crum’s performance started off soft, it slowly gained power as he continued on. By the time he reached the end of the song, his voice filled up the entire room.
The emotions of the moment seemed to overcome Crum, as the camera zoomed in to show him with tears in his eyes. Mandel also appeared to have tears in his eyes, and we’re sure he wasn’t the only one in the room who reacted in such a way.
Afer Crum finished singing the room was silent for a few seconds before the crowd soared to its feet and burst into cheers and applause. Once again, his performance earned great praise from the judges, who voted to send him on to the next round of the competition.
“Every time we’ve seen you, you’ve put on a performance, which is exciting,” Cowell told Crum. “It’s actually quite breathtaking.”
