Young Woman Haunts With Bone-Chilling Ode To Johnny Cash’s ‘Hurt’

If there’s one song by the legendary Johnny Cash sure to reduce listeners to tears, “Hurt” is most definitely at the top of the list. Performing one the music icon’s final recordings, a talented young woman by the name of Holly Henry delivers a rendition of the song that will chill you to the bone. 

The young artist performs a slowed down version of the country ballad, singing along to the beat playing through her keyboard. The talented young singer’s delivery is unparalleled both vocally as well as musically, putting her own unique spin on Cash’s masterpiece while maintaining the purity of the original.  

Holly’s version of “Hurt” has received over 600,000 views on her YouTube channel since its publication in July of 2016. She has accumulated over 400,000 subscribers to her channel, raking in a massive 39.2 million views to her videos at large. 

The music video for “Hurt” was nominated in seven categories at MTV’s 2013 Video Music Awards, winning in the category of “Best Cinematography.” While the song was originally written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Cash made the song his own inevitably resulting in Reznor later admitting the song no longer belonged to him.
