Move Over, Dolly! Young Woman Performs Unforgettable ‘Jolene’ Cover

Haley Klinkhammer YouTube/Billboard

Standing in an empty room with long, grey curtains covering the windows, Wisconsin native Haley Klinkhammer belted out one of the best Dolly Parton covers we’ve ever heard.

To call out a woman who is moving in on your man takes a lot of gusto and Klinkhammer has just that when covering Parton’s 1974 hit song “Jolene”.  Covering a song that is so iconic from a singer who is even more iconic is not an easy task, but this young lady knocked it out of the park for us.

Klinkhammer has been performing since the day she first picked up a guitar at age fourteen. She began posting videos of herself singing covers and nine years later, she now has 210,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. Over the last nine years, Klinkhammer has released two EPs of all original songs and thanks to a wildly successful crowdfunding campaign, she released a full-length album titled From Where I Stand.

Klinkhammer’s style of music is not exactly country, but it’s not far off. Her voice and style is perfect for “Jolene” and we’re sure even Dolly Parton would agree! She showed off her guitar playing and picking skills during the introduction, followed by the emotional delivery of the song’s first lyrics.

Her version is a bit slower than Parton’s original, but Klinkhammer speeds the song up exactly where and when she needs to. Watch her incredible cover of the iconic song below.
