In 2008, Zac Brown Band released quite possibly one of the most fun songs to sing along to.

“Chicken Fried” has become one of their most popular songs, and one of modern country music’s most patriotic.

At Hangout Festival in 2015, Brown stood onstage and played the opening riff to “Chicken Fried” and the crowd went wild.

He sang the opening lyric, and asked the fans to “sing it!” The audience sang the rest of the verse with no help at all. They were the best backup singers ever.

During the bridge, Brown sang the following lyrics,

“I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
And the ones that gave their lives so we don’t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried.”

As he was singing, two members of our nation’s military marched on stage and saluted. Two American flags flew in the audience and the harmonies the band delivered along with the snare drum made it one of the most patriotic sights we’ve seen.

Brown also changed the lyrics to, “And the ones that gave their lives so that we can be free and have a concert and live in the greatest country in the world, ladies and gentlemen!
