Brandon Lake Releases New Version Of “Hard Fought Hallelujah”

Christian artist Brandon Lake first released his popular track “Hard Fought Hallelujah” in November 2024.

The track quickly climbed to number one on both the Digital Songs and Christian Songs charts, which was a huge milestone for Lake.

After seeing that the song was so well-received, he created a remix version earlier this year with fellow artist Jelly Roll.

For Lake, he was very intentional about who he asked to join him on the song. In a past interview with Billboard, he revealed that he wanted to find someone who truly understood the song’s lyrics. He wanted to make sure his partner had lived them.

“I just wanted to share this with somebody who really gets this story, who’s lived it,” he said. “Now to see him carrying this song and how we carry it together and it’s impacting so many lives — that’s the goal. We’re in a perfect time for this kind of collaboration to happen. The truth is, all of us are just as messed up — it’s just some of us are good at hiding it and putting a mask on. Everyone’s on a journey.”

Lake and Jelly Roll ended up taking their duet to the 2025 Dove Awards, where they won Song of the Year. They also closed out the show with a powerful performance.

The two sang the track while rain poured down on top of them. In the background was a full choir, and Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste playing the piano.

The performance was so moving that fans immediately hoped for this version to be released for streaming. And Lake made sure to give the people what they wanted!
