Carly Pearce Addresses News Of Split From Riley King

Carly Pearce and her boyfriend, Riley King, have split after two years of dating. The news was first reported by Page Six, who shared a statement from King.

Yes, things didn’t work out,” King said. “Carly and I have parted ways and I wish her nothing but the best in both her career and personal life.”

The outlet cited an unnamed “second source” who claimed Pearce and King broke up due to “trust issues” she developed after her 2020 divorce from Michael Ray.

Pearce made an appearance at Wednesday’s Women in Country panel at Billboard Country Live on Wednesday (June 7). PEOPLE interviewed Pearce after the panel, and she spoke about her breakup:

“For the most part, it was great. People date to see if they’re gonna go the distance, and we weren’t,” she said. “We just simply were not right for each other, and that’s the bottom line. I am on such a beautiful journey, and I am really excited about the next chapter of my life.”

Pearce also denied the source that claimed her “trust issues” were to blame for her and King’s breakup. “That is absolutely not why we broke up,” she said.

Is Carly Pearce’s Breakup From Riley King The Inspiration Behind Her Upcoming Collaboration With Chris Stapleton?

Just days before the breakup news broke, Pearce announced the pending release of a new song, called “We Don’t Fight Anymore.” The song is a collaboration with Chris Stapleton.

Fans wondered if the song has anything to do with Pearce’s breakup from King. She set the record straight while speaking with PEOPLE, and clarified that it is unrelated:

“I want to clarify that I wrote ‘We Don’t Fight Anymore’ a year ago, when I was ridiculously in love,” she said.

Pearce continued, “There is absolutely not a correlation to what is going on in my life in the moment at all.”

Speaking about the song, Pearce said it was a “dream” of hers to work with Stapleton.

He’s been my dream collaboration, and for it to have happened like this and so organically, just feels really, really meant to be. I feel like it’s a whole new era. It’s a whole new chapter,” she said.
