Carrie Underwood is a huge animal lover. So it comes as no surprise that she rushed to help an injured armadillo she recently discovered outside her home.

A series of videos Carrie posted on her Instagram Story on Monday (June 6) show her attempting to coax an armadillo into a pet carrier. But the armadillo wasn’t eager to get in the carrier, and refused to budge from its spot under a bush.

Carrie’s dog, Zero, looked on while wagging his tail. Her eldest son, Isaiah, was also there to help. When Carrie kept telling the armadillo to “get in the carrier,” Isaiah chimed in, saying, “He has no idea what a carrier is mom.

Thanks, Isaiah…” Carrie captioned the video.

Carrie then tried to pick the armadillo up in her gloved hands so she could place it inside the carrier. But the armadillo resisted, prompting Isaiah to say, “He doesn’t like that mommy.”

He doesn’t like it,” Carrie agreed.

Carrie moved the carrier back a bit and tried once more to move the armadillo inside. She struggled to do so since the armadillo was digging its claws into the ground. But after being a little more persistent, Carrie finally got the armadillo into the carrier.

She shared a picture of its injured back, and said, “He’s got some injuries…now what?” Carrie and her family affectionately named the armadillo “Pickle.”

Carrie shared an update on Pickle early on Tuesday morning (June 7). Unfortunately, the update was not good.

Sadly, Pickle the armadillo did not make it through the night.” Carrie captioned a photo of Pickle. “He will be missed.”

What a sad end to Carrie and Pickle’s story. We’re so sorry to hear of Pickle’s passing.
