Isabelle Tate, an actress who appeared in 9-1-1: Nashville, died on October 19 at the age of 23.

Isabelle “Izzy” Tate’s death was announced in a statement released by her talent agency, The McCray Agency, on Thursday (October 23).

“We are deeply saddened and completely heartbroken to share that Isabelle Tate passed away on October 19th. She was 23. I’ve known Izzy since she was a teenager and she recently returned to acting. She booked the first series she auditioned for, 9-1-1 Nashville.”

The statement accompanying Tate’s obituary shared some insight into the young actress’s life. She recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. She was remembered as “a fighter” who was “full of fire.”

In an Instagram story, The McCray Agency confirmed Isabelle’s cause of death as a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT).

“Isabelle ‘Izzy’ Tate had a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease. She passed away peacefully on the 19th of October. The family requests privacy as they deal with this sudden and shocking loss,” the post reads.

Isabelle Tate's cause of death

TMZ confirmed the cause of Tate’s death. The outlet spoke with the actress’s agent, who said that Tate was “confined to a wheelchair” due to CMT. The agent added that “the disease affects the legs but can also affect internal organs such as the lungs and heart.” Tate passed away peacefully in her sleep, the outlet reported.

Isabelle revealed her CMT diagnosis in 2022, saying that she was 13 when she learned that she had “a progressive neuromuscular disease that weakens my leg muscles over time.”

Tate made her acting debut in the pilot episode of 9-1-1: Nashville where she played Julie, a bachelorette party attendee in a wheelchair.

About Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease is also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy. It causes nerve damage, mostly in the nerves of the arms and legs.

CMT is not typically considered a fatal disease. But on rare occasions, the muscles needed to breathe are affected, and complications arise.

In 2021, country legend Alan Jackson revealed that he had been battling CMT for more than a decade. He told the TODAY Show that he inherited the condition from his father.

“There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious,” Jackson told Jenna Bush Hager. “And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”

Alan Jackson retired from touring following his “Last Call” tour that wrapped in 2025. He will be officially wrapping up his impressive career with a farewell concert in Nashville in 2026.
