Tyler Robinson Formally Charged In Connection To Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
Less than one week after the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson was formally charged with the crime.
Kirk, Turning Point USA founder and CEO, was shot during an appearance at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, September 10.
Robinson was arrested approximately 33 hours later following a statewide manhunt.
After reportedly confessing to the crime, Robinson’s father contacted a trusted family friend, who was later identified as a youth pastor. The pastor spoke with the 22-year-old and then alerted the authorities. He was subsequently taken into custody and is now facing charges of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and felony discharge of a firearm.

Robinson’s Texts Messages To Roommate Revealed
On the night of Kirk’s death, Robinson’s roommate received a text message telling him to look under his keyboard, which allegedly had a note from the 22-year-old admitting to the assassination.
“The roommate looked under the keyboard and found a note that stated, quote, I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” Jeff Gray, the Utah county attorney, said during a press conference Tuesday (September 16).
Robinson reportedly told the roommate he intended to keep the crime a secret for the rest of his life. When asked if he was the one who did it, Robinson replied that he was indeed the person responsible for the horrific murder.
The roomate then asked “why,” to which Robinson replied: “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again. Hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything about them finding it.”
Robinson admitted he had been planning the attack for “about a week,” and used his grandfather’s rifle, which he left in the woods and was later found by law enforcement.
“IDEK if it had a serial number, but it wouldn’t trace to me. I worry about prints. I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. I might have to abandon it and hope they don’t find prints,” he said in the exchange.
He then told the roommate to “delete” any proof of their text messages, asking him not to take any media interviews and to obtain a lawyer before speaking.
Robinson reiterated to the roommate how worried he was that his father would question him about the missing rifle, detailing that he left it “wrapped” in a towel.
“Since Trump got into office, my dad has been pretty diehard MAGA. I’m gonna turn myself in willingly,” Robinson wrote.
