Chris Partakes In New & Unexpected Duet

In early April, it was revealed that Chris Stapleton had recorded a new duet set to drop at the end of the month. But rather than team with another country singer for the collaboration, Stapleton joined forces with an unlikely artist.

His new duet partner is known worldwide as a famous pop star, but actually has stronger ties to country music than many realize. As a result, even if you don’t listen to pop music at all, you’ve likely heard her before.

Of course, we’re talking about P!nk.

P!nk’s Previous Country Experience

In 2016, P!nk was a featured vocalist on Kenny Chesney‘s “Setting the World on Fire.” The song was a smash success, and claimed the top spot on both of Billboard‘s two country charts. It has since been certified platinum.

As if all of that didn’t give you enough of a clue as to how impactful the song was, it was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017.

Later that same year, P!nk appeared as one of the performers at the CMA Awards. But rather than sing a duet with another artist, she performed her own song, titled “Barbies.”

People later referred to P!nk’s performance as one of the best of the night.

So after establishing some roots in country music, P!nk decided to tap one of its powerhouse vocalists to join her on a new song of hers. That’s how Stapleton came to be the featured artists on her new track, “Love Me Anyway.”

The Perfect Complements

The song is included on P!nk’s new album Hurts 2B Human and was released when the album dropped on April 26. Fan response to the song was quick and overwhelmingly positive.

P!nk sings lead throughout the track, while Stapleton occasionally chimes in with the supplemental part. You’ll instantly find yourself covered in goosebumps the first time you hear their voices come together on the chorus.

You may have never thought of pairing P!nk and Stapleton together on a song, but it’s a pairing that works. They both have a “rawness” to their voices that makes them the perfect complements to each other.

We could talk about this duet all day, but it’s best if you just listen to it yourself. Be sure to check it out in the official audio clip below.
