There’s a reason why over five million people have listened to the official audio clip of Chris Stapleton‘s song “Cold.”

The song features Stapleton at his best, as he mournfully sings about a girl who broke his heart. You can feel the heartache and anger in his voice when he sings lines such as “Oh, girl, you know you left this hole. Right here in the middle of my soul.

This year, Stapleton was one of CMT’s Artists of the Year. During the ceremony, Boyz II Men and Pentatonix‘s Kevin Olusola took to the stage to honor him with a cover of “Cold.”

Stapleton was blown away by the performance. “I don’t think that’s Chris Stapleton’s ‘Cold’ anymore — that’s Boyz II Men’s ‘Cold‘,” he said.Man, how awesome was that?”

Stapleton roared through some of the song’s most emotional lines, delivering them in a way that will send shivers down your spine.
