Chris Stapleton And Tyler Childers Sign On To Lead The Healing Appalachia Benefit In Kentucky

Kentucky natives Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers are joining forces for a benefit festival to help their community.

The festival, called Healing Appalachia, aims to raise awareness about opioid addiction. The festival also celebrates those who have recovered.

The cause is close to Childers’ heart. He wrote about the ongoing addiction and drug crisis in the U.S. in his song “Nose on the Grindstone.”

Inspired to make an even greater difference, Childers co-founded the Healing Appalachia festival with his manager, Ian Thornton. The festival was previously held in West Virginia, but will move to Childers’ native Kentucky this September.

Hope in the Hills is the nonprofit associated with Healing Appalachia. The roots of the organization took hold in 2016, after the town of Huntington, West Virginia, lost 26 residents to overdoses in one day.

As Rolling Stone details, Hope in the Hill aims to “[spread] addiction and recovery awareness, fostering empathy, and inspiring life-saving action throughout communities worldwide.”

Dave Lavendar, the board president of Hope in the Hills, told Rolling Stone, “People looked to Tyler and Ian as change makers, as if they could do something. And I think they were tired of seeing a lot of our friends die.

As Healing Appalachia moves to Kentucky this year, Childers is teaming up with fellow Kentuckian Chris Stapleton to co-headline the event. It will be held on September 19 and 20 in Ashland, Kentucky, near the Boyd County Fairgrounds.

Fans can purchase tickets on the Healing Appalachia website.

Chris Stapleton Will Appear At The ACM Awards Later This Month

The news of Chris Stapleton co-headlining Healing Appalachia with Tyler Childers comes just a few weeks before the “White Horse” singer will take the stage at the 60th ACM Awards. In addition to being part of the superstar performance lineup, Stapleton is one of this year’s top nominees.

Stapleton earned a total of six nominations at this year’s ACM Awards. His biggest nod comes in the Entertainer of the Year category, up against Morgan Wallen, Kelsea Ballerni, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, and Jelly Roll.

Stapleton already has over a dozen ACM Award wins. He’s also one of only a few artists to receive the coveted Triple Crown Award.

The Triple Crown Award is bestowed upon artists who win their new artist category, the male, female, duo, or group category, and Entertainer of the Year. Stapleton secured the Triple Crown after winning the latter award in 2023.

Tune in to this year’s ACM Awards on May 8 to see if Stapleton adds to his collection of ACM trophies. In the meantime, watch one of his past ACM Awards performances below.
