Cody Johnson Brings Pure Country Performance To The ACM Awards
In addition to being a nominee, Johnson was also a performer at the 2023 ACM Awards. He performed a tribute to Willie Nelson in honor of the country music legend’s 90th birthday on April 29.
Johnson was incredibly honored to pay tribute to Nelson. As he told Audacy, “Willie’s one of my biggest heroes.”
He honored Nelson by performing “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys.” Nelson recorded the song as a duet with Waylon Jennings, who is another one of Johnson’s personal heroes.
