CoJo Shares His Love For America

Country music superstar Cody Johnson tipped his hat to American heroes with an uplifting performance of “God Bless America” during a recent concert.

Johnson, who’s nominated for five awards at the upcoming CMA Awards, has never shied from sharing his love for America. Shortly before Election Day (November 5), he shared a profound message about unity and patriotism.

“It’s okay to disagree … because before most of us were born, an American soldier died for our right to disagree in this country. That’s what makes unity so beautiful: sometimes, with unity, we disagree.”

Johnson ended his message by saying, “There are three things we can agree on. They are this: they are red, white, and blue!

The singer has also shared his love for America by performing the National Anthem at multiple events. One of his most recent performances occurred at the MLB All-Star Game in July.

During a recent concert, Johnson removed his hat and stepped to the front of the stage before addressing the audience. First, he called on anyone who has ever served in the United States military to raise their hands.

“If you don’t have your hand in the air right now, I want you to do this for me,” Johnson said. “I want you stand up, and I want you to raise your voices to the top of your lungs, and make some noise for these men and women that have their hands in the air.”

Johnson expressed how he wanted to “have a show of unity” that night. Then, he called on everyone to join him in singing “God Bless America.”

With the crowd singing softly along with him, Johnson delivered a tender but powerful rendition of “God Bless America.” He held the microphone out to the audience at various points, including the final word, so their voices could be heard singing the last “home.”
