Earlier this year, Luke Bryan hooked his thumb while fishing on his pond at home. The American Idol judge shared a video showcasing what happened.

Well, this is going to leave a mark…Pretty sure that’s in my bone,” he said.

Even though it looked like Bryan was going to have a gnarly injury, he was back on the water within minutes of removing the hook. And he didn’t even wear a bandage!

As Bryan learned, anytime you deal with a fish hook, there’s always a chance you’ll end up piercing your thumb. This is something Parmalee‘s lead singer, Matt Thomas, also knows all-too-well.

On Thursday (June 17), Thomas posted a series of photos of Instagram that show him with a fish hook stuck deep in his thumb. “First fish of the day..and thumb,” Thomas captioned the pictures.

The first photo in Thomas’ slideshow shows him holding the fish he caught in one hand while holding up his hooked thumb on the other hand. The pained smile on his face says it all!

Photo #2 is a closeup look at the hook in Thomas’ thumb. It’s one photo you want to skip if you’re a bit squeamish!

In photo #3, the injured Thomas is seen with his friends and fellow country singers Jimmie Allen and Adam Warner. Jimmie apparently thought it was the perfect time to take a selfie!

The last thing in the slideshow is a video that shows how Thomas managed to get the hook out of his thumb.

Warner assisted by yanking the hook out of Thomas’ thumb in one swift motion. It came out clean, but were’ sure it still hurt like the dickens, as Thomas could be heard exclaiming “Oh s—” after it was removed.

If you think you can handle it, you can see Thomas’ slideshow depicting his fish hook injury below. We hope he’s doing well and his thumb heals quickly!
