Country singer Luke Bell has been found deceased nine days after he was reported missing. He was 32.

Bell was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, August 20, by his friend and traveling companion Matt Kinman. Luke, who suffered from mental illness that included bipolar disorder, reportedly disappeared when Kinman left to get something to eat. Bell was found dead on Monday, August 29, near where he was last seen by Kinman.

Kinman reported that he and Bell had recently visited the latter’s home state of Wyoming before they went to Arizona. “…we came down here to Arizona, to work down here, play some music, and he just took off. He was in the back of the truck. I went in to get something to eat. I came out, and he’d got out of the truck and left.”

Luke Bell was born in Kentucky and raised in Wyoming where he got his musical start. Bell eventually made his way to Austin, Texas, where he performed in various bars before moving on to Music City. In 2014, he recorded an album called “Don’t Mind If I Do” that caught the attention of a booking agent that enlisted Luke to open for acts such as Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam and Hank Williams Jr.

But, after signing a record deal with Thirty Tigers, Luke Bell’s career fizzled out. Saving Country Music said it best when they wrote, “Many had big plans for Luke, but Luke’s plans remained decidedly less aspirational.”

Bell had disappeared and reappeared numerous times over the years, sometimes showing up at hospitals, in jail or on stage. His former manager shares that the musician seemed to be doing better during the last 1 1/2 years, but said that his medication was recently changed which could be the reason for his disappearance in Tucson.

Luke Bell’s cause of death is yet to be determined.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Luke Bell’s loved ones.
