June 6 was supposed to be an extremely joyous day for country singer Walker Hayes and his family, but it turned into their worst nightmare. Walker and his wife Laney were expecting their seventh child, and instead of being able to share the news of her arrival, they made a statement revealing that their baby girl, Oakleigh Klover, had passed away.

It is with great sadness that Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning and now is safely in heaven. Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve,” the statement read.

Along with making the heartbreaking announcement, Walker announced that his upcoming shows would be cancelled.

Walker spent some much needed time with his wife and their six children grieving over their loss together.  But less than a month later, Walker revealed he would be resuming his touring schedule on June 27.

To keep little Oakleigh close to him at all times, Walker debuted a tattoo he got in her honor – her name along with her footprint. He shared the tattoo on Instagram, thanking the tattoo artist for the piece.

It is perfect,” he said.

What a special way to keep his baby girl close to him.
