Cracker Barrel Makes Major Business Move, Sells Maple Street Biscuit Company
on Jul 24, 2026

Cracker Barrel is cutting ties with Maple Street Biscuit Company.
The Southern-style restaurant chain announced this week that it will be selling Maple Street to Biscuit Belly LLC while also shutting down 16 locations.
The amount Maple Street was sold for has not been publicly revealed. However, Cracker Barrel said in a statement that the deal will result in a non-cash charge of around $37 million to $39 million during the fourth quarter of its 2026 fiscal year.
Since Maple Street accounted for only about 2% of Cracker Barrel’s annual revenue, the company expects the move to help cut costs and improve its finances heading into 2027.
Cracker Barrel first acquired Maple Street Biscuit Company in 2019 in a $36 million deal. At the time, the brand had just 28 restaurants and 5 franchise locations across the United States.
While under Cracker Barrel’s ownership, Maple Street expanded to several dozen more locations by 2024. However, in 2025, the company closed 14 of those breakfast spots.
There are currently 35 Maple Street locations remaining, and those will now transition to Biscuit Belly’s branding in the next 18 to 24 months, per a statement shared by the company.
Another 16 locations were not included in the deal and will permanently close.
Those closures will impact locations across seven states, including Alabama, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas. Not all locations have announced their closures just yet, though.
Cracker Barrel’s latest business move comes less than a year after the company faced major backlash attempting to change its iconic logo design.
In August 2025, the restaurant chain introduced a more modern design that removed the familiar “old man and barrel” image that longtime customers recognized.
After thousands of complaints from customers, Cracker Barrel eventually reversed the change and ended its partnership with the branding firm that helped create the redesign.
